The Venetian actor and theatre figure received recognition at the Congress Awards during an international gala at Ca’ Sagredo.

Venice celebrated one of its own on 11 September when Alessandro Bressanello was honoured during the Congress Awards La Dolce Vita at Ca’ Sagredo, held in the closing days of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

Bressanello’s career is closely connected to the cultural history of the city. In 1976 he opened Tag Teatro, building decades of work around theatre, Commedia dell’Arte and the Carnival of Venice. His career later reached international cinema, with appearances in The Hand of God, Spectre and Pablo Larraín’s Maria, in which he portrayed Giovanni Battista Meneghini opposite Angelina Jolie.
The recognition created a natural link between Venice’s cinematic present and its theatrical heritage. Alongside Bressanello, Alisa Roever, founder of Angels Helpers, was honoured for her philanthropic work supporting children who lack access to professional arts education, musical instruments and mentorship.
The gala extended beyond cinema. Lidia Weber presented the Dolce Vita Collection by Oliver Weber Collection, while Velichka Gospodinova of LABOR8, Nadine Ahmad of Young Voyage, Victoria Dimitrova of LEDEN8 and Massimiliano Giobergia of Cosmetic Tailors represented fragrance, beauty and luxury.
Performances by Alina Zamalieva, Manana Palagashvili, Yuri and Ksenia Wheelman and Rezeda Kalimullina transformed the historic rooms of Ca’ Sagredo into a live stage overlooking the Grand Canal.
Organised by Royal Gentlemen Club founders Thomas Misse and Marek Harmony together with Congress Awards, founded by Anna Stukkert, La Dolce Vita placed a Venetian cultural figure at the centre of an international evening in the city where his career began.
